CRONA March 2008 Area Representatives and Membership Meeting Minutes
CRONA
Committee for Recognition of Nursing Achievement
Area Representatives and Membership Meetings
March 4 and 6, 2008
This is the seventh in a series of educational topics that will be addressed in our monthly minutes.
Some Common Paycheck Questions
1. I will be paid night differential when I take PTO, PTS or ATO because my manager and I agreed that I will be working straight nights starting the next pay period.
Yes, you will and if you are not:
Somewhere in the process something is missed and you end up not getting paid accurately. For example, your manager did not initiate the necessary paperwork or, the compensation department did not enter the appropriate change.
There are several ways to confirm your shift designation. First and foremost, check your pay check.
In addition, check your UPOS number. This is the number designated beside your name in the schedule book. If your UPOS number is followed by the number “1”, you are a day shift nurse. If your UPOS number is followed by the number “2”, you are an evening shift nurse. If your UPOS number is followed by the number “3”, you are a night shift nurse. Each nursing unit has a UPOS designation. For example, the UPOS for D/E ground at SHC is Q. The UPOS for 3North at LPCH is AM.
Your shift designation is also documented on econnect under Job Profile.
If your pay, UPOS number or job profile do not reflect your designated shift, email your manager immediately and send a copy to crona@crona.org.
2. My increase in pay will be reflected in my pay check because I was promoted to the next Staff Nurse Level.
Yes, it should but if it is not:
Again, sometimes something is missed in this process. Check your pay check.
In addition, log on to econnect. Your Staff Nurse Level is documented in your Job Profile. Email your manager immediately and send a copy to crona@crona.org if your Staff Nurse Level is inaccurate.
3. I will incur overtime pay this pay period because I came in SNC/ECB.
Yes, you should but if not:
Sometimes your name and hours are not added on the staffing sheet (grey bar at SHC and new daily at LPCH) or your name and hours are not entered by the Staffing Office.
Check the grey bar or new daily before you go home every time that you work a different schedule or hours from what was originally posted.
In addition, check your pay check.
If you are paid inaccurately, email your manager and send a copy to the Staffing Office (vbatis@lpch.org for LPCH and jhenrion@stanfordmed.org for SHC. If you do not receive a response from the Staffing Office, forward your original email to crona@crona.org.
4. I attended a committee meeting and will be paid accordingly.
Yes, you should but:
If you did not sign the attendance sheet, you will not be paid. If the attendance sheet is not submitted to the Staffing Office, you will not be paid. Remember to sign the attendance sheet and remind the person in charge of the meeting to submit the attendance sheet to the Staffing Office at the end of the meeting.
As always, check your pay check.
If you were paid inaccurately, email your manager and send a copy to the Staffing Office (vbatis@lpch.org for LPCH and jhenrion@stanfordmed.org for SHC. If you do not receive a response from the Staffing Office, forward your original email to crona@crona.org.
