Dear CRONA Nurses:

By now you should have received a letter from Lori Curry, Vice President for Human Resources at SHC and Greg Souza, Vice President for Human Resources at LPCH, stating that the hospitals are withdrawing the recognition of SEIU Local 715/UHW as the Union representing some of our co-workers. The approximately 1450 employees include housekeepers, food service workers, nursing assistants, phlebotomists, unit secretaries, transporters and employees in non-technical and non-professional titles at SHC and LPCH.

We are saddened to learn about this turn of events. Employees need a Union, not only in obtaining competitive wages and benefits but also in protecting their jobs and patient care.

We hope that issue(s) will be resolved soon so our co-workers can enter into negotiations before their contract expires in November 2008.
