The Magnet visit at SHC will be June 20, 21, 22, 23, 2011. You have an opportunity to submit comments before the site visit. The deadline for submitting comments is Friday, June 10, 2011.
Your comments are confidential and never shared with anyone at the hospital. To ensure complete anonymity, use your home computer.

Some of the changes in our new CRONA contracts:
Classifications
Clinical Nurse I, II, III, IV, Relief Clinical Nurse I, II, III, IV Staff Nurse III, IV, Relief Nurse III, IV
Educational Funds For Job-Related Courses and/or Materials
Effective April 7, 2011, SHC and LPCH nurses will have $1,000.00 per year pro rated according to your work commitment. Funds can be used for lodging, airfare, registration fees, books, software.
You have 90 days from the completion of a course to submit for reimbursement through Success Factors.
Transfers
If you are a Staff Nurse III or IV and you transfer to any unit, you will be reclassified to Clinical Nurse II if you do not meet the performance level of the new unit after 9 months.
If you are a Clinical Nurse III or IV and you transfer to a “like unit,” you will maintain your Clinical Nurse III or IV status. You will need to reapply within 9 months and meet the criteria of the new unit in order to maintain your Clinical Nurse III or IV status.
If you are a Clinical Nurse III or IV and you transfer to a unit that is not categorized as a “like unit,” you will be demoted to Clinical Nurse II. You can apply for Clinical Nurse III or IV at the next application period.

Involuntary Reclassification
If a Staff Nurse III or IV is not meeting the Staff Nurse Criteria, the nurse will be given a maximum of 3 months to meet the criteria. If the Staff Nurse does not meet the Criteria after 3 months, the nurse will be reclassified to Clinical Nurse II.
Clinical Nurse III or IV must reapply every year under the PNDP requirements.
Resignations
A nurse who is re-hired will be hired as Clinical Nurse II.
PTO
PTO will accrue on all hours paid up to 80 hours per pay period excluding missed meal break, PTO cash-outs and on call pay.
New and Decreased PTO Accrual Rates
Years of Service – Time Accrued Per Hour Worked
1st year of employment – .1000
2nd through 3rd year – .1193
4th through 9th year – .1385
10th & subsequent years – .1500
Bereavement Leave
3 paid days for immediate family; parents, legal guardians, spouse, children, stepchildren, grandparents, grandchildren, siblings, step-siblings, step-parents, mother in-law, father in-law, son in-law, daughter in-law, and eligible domestic partner as defined in the Employer’s Health Benefits Summary Plan Descriptions. Time off for deaths outside the immediate family may also be granted at the discretion of the Employer.
A Relief Nurse will be entitled to 7 calendar days off without pay.
Performance Evaluation
Retroactive pay will be given if an evaluation is done late, unless the delay was caused by the nurse. The manager will provide you a copy of your evaluation within 30 days.
Investigatory Meetings
Your manager will inform you of the purpose and subject of the meeting prior to the meeting. A CRONA representative will be available within 1 calendar day except that CRONA will have up to 3 calendar days to provide a representative.
Temporary Relief of Duty or Administrative Leave
If a nurse is placed on temporary relief of duty for more than 2 weeks, the nurse will be placed on paid status based on his/her regular FTE while the investigation continues. If the nurse is terminated or suspended longer than the nurse’s unpaid status while on relief of duty, the hospital will not recoup any amount paid to the nurse.
